About Greg Wise
I am one of those new breed of photographers who came into being because of the advent of digital photography. Until I got my first Sony digital camera (Wow - a .6 megapixel beauty in 1999) I took very few pictures. I am now using a Canon 40D with a 70-200 L series lens. I also use a Sony R1. Altogether it is a great pastime and hobby and my collection of photos now totals just over 85,000 since my startup in 1999.

The best way to view the pictures is to click on an album and then when the thumbnails show up proceed to click on the first photo. That will open up the picture in a larger format. To the left side of that picture, you need to click on the large or original option in the view category. If you are on dial up then you need to select the small or medium version in View. Bighorn Canyon and Pryor Mts. Wild Horses
On June 21, 2003 we camped out for two nights at the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. On Saturday we took what we thought would be a 3 hour trip up into the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Refuge. It took us the whole day instead. We not only saw some of the prime members of the 190 count herd of wild horses but we also saw and photograph some of the most spectacular fields of wild flowers we have ever seen. A sea of red, white, blue along with purple and yellow greeted us - mostly at the top of the 9,000 plateau of the Pryor Mountains. The scenery along the way as well at the top was spectacular and breathtaking. We even visited a ice cave along the way which stays cold enough to stay frozen year round. We came home tired but full of wonderful memories of flora and fauna. Here is a site to learn more of the area we explored. http://www.hawkline.com/mustangs/breeding.html
Greg & Sue on the Beartooth Highway 2007
We have not been up on the Beartooth Highway since last year or was it the year before. I just can't remember. The highs in town were in the mid nineties but at the top at 11,000 feet it was a cool 60 degrees. Pure sunshine and beautiful views. There were a lot of folks travelling the highway before it will close in the next few weeks. Snows are coming soon so off Sue and I went by ourselves to explore the wonderful world of higher elevations.
Red Lodge Mountain and Snowmobile Jumping
We spent the day up in Red Lodge Montana. We dropped the boys off at the mountain for a day of snowboarding while Sue and I went into town for lunch - shopping and watching the Snowmobile Jumping demonstration. Jimmy Blaze is the headliner in this group. I have never heard of him but if you are into sledding sports then he is a big name. A little special editing brings out some different views of the extreme sport.
Pryor Mountain Wild Horses 6-17-06
For Father's Day weekend I get to pick an outing and this year I chose to go up to the top of the Pryor Mountains to see the emergence of wild flowers and the ever presence of one of the most famous herd of wild horses. Sue and I along with Sam Cooper and Kirsten and Neveah enjoyed a beautiful day. At the 9000 foot level of the mountain we encountered some of the same horses we saw almost 3 years earlier. The most famous was Cloud - a dominant stallion with a harem of 5 mares along with a colt named Golddust. Many of the bachelors we encountered were scarred from their many battles to enter in the world of harem keeper. Very few get the privilege to do so. The wild flowers were magnificent as usual and the views unmatched. One thing different this time up was the weather was much milder. Three years ago it snowed. A bumpy ride up was well worth the experience and will be remembered for a long time to come.
Wiseboys to Arizona 2008
On March 25th, Greg, Sam and Cooper drove to Arizona to see Grandma Wise and watch some pre-season Major League Baseball games. We had great weather there and then enjoyed a long trip home through Monument Valley and Mesa Verde National Park.
Tony and Angela Higbie Wedding 9-8-07
Greg's Trip to Arizona
On January 24, I flew to Arizona to meet up with brother Mike and sister Robin to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday. We were joined by Mike's wife Pam along with cousin Jan and husband Skip Pedersen. Mike and I got in two rounds of golf while there. Here are just a few pictures of that weekend.
Cooper's 2007 Baseball Season
Cooper's final year of Little League Baseball. Next year will be his first in Babe Ruth. Papa coached him maybe for the last time unless they are desperate at the next level. Coop had a great season on the mound and shortstop. When the All-Star season came around he played those two positions as well as catcher at times also. We won the regular season league championship along with 2 out of 3 All-Star tourneys.
Jackson Hole Anniversary Journey
To celebrate our upcoming 25th Wedding Anniversary, Sue and I head to Jackson, Wy for 4 days of sight seeing and relaxation. We traveled through Yellowstone National Park to get to Grand Teton National Park. It has been 14 years since our last visit and it will not be that long again for our next visit. What a wonderful place to be.
Wise Family Reunion 2007
The first tens days of August was spent travelling to Omaha to visit my brother Mike and wife Pam and also a side trip to Branson MO to hook up with other Wise family members for our almost yearly gathering. We had a great time visiting with family and enjoying the wonders of Branson. The heat and humidity were not our favorites but they came with the territory I guess. After leaving Branson, spent an additional 4 days in Omaha before coming home to our dry high plains climate. We love Wyoming!!!
Cody Powwow
On June 17 which was Father's Day we went to the annual Powwow which is held on the grounds of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. So many different groups are represented in this wonderful display of traditional dances.
Darcee - Justin - Derrick
The Lynn children wanted to surprise Mom with a portrait of themselves as a present for her birthday. The surprise did not work out but their time in front of the camera created some wonderful memories that will last forever for the family.
Cooper's 2007 Track Season
Something brand new for us this year - Track and Field. Cooper did long jump and triple jump along with the 4 x 100 relay and usually the 100 dash and the 200 or 400 dash. He ran the 1600 once and that was enough. Long days and usually too much sun made this so much different than other sports we attended throughout the year. Our 7th grade boys won every meet and the conference title.
Everyday Nevaeh
These are pictures I've taken of Nevaeh in our home. Of course, I never have the camera ready when she does things that are very photogenic. Keep checking because more and more will be added.
MCT- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
On March 3rd 2007 a wonderful group of young actors performed Snow White from an adaptation produced by the Missoula Children's Theatre. The young actors only had 5 days of practice before presenting two flawless shows. Family friend Emily Kath was Snow White and Cicily Bennion portrayed the Evil Queen. They and dozens of others young people delighted all who attended the performances.
Cooper's 2007 Wrestling Season
Cooper went out for wrestling for the first time and did quite well considering his season only lasted for two tournaments. The last picture in this album shows him in a bit of agony after falling with the weight of his opponent on top of him as he put his left arm out to break his fall. Xrays showed soft tissue and ligament damage that he is still healing from. He won the majority of matches up to that point and was getting better each time. He will try again next year.
Nevaeh turns 3
Here are some pictures of Nevaeh with her cake she had at our house. I have thrown in a few other pictures that were taken recently. Kirsten bought her the blue dress for Easter but she wanted to try it on. A quick trip to the back yard to get some pre-Easter pictures of her and her dress.
Cooper's 2006 Football Season
This was Coop's first year of School sponsored football - 7th Grade. He played running back on offense and right cornerback on defense. He had a great season as did his team going undefeated and winning the conference . In their final game of the season they travelled to Laurel and took on a much larger school and team. Some of the kids there looked like they belong in high school. Even though they lost they showed why they were the champs back home. Coop's number was # 2 so look for that or if his number is covered up he probably is in the middle of the action.
Sam's Tennis Season 2006
Sam went out for tennis this year planning on playing the Junior Varsity team as this was his first year of competitive tennis. He surprised a lot of people and with his hard work earned a spot on the Varsity team. He really improved during the season and is looking forward to moving up in the ranks next year. He ended up being the only Freshman to earn his letter this year on the tennis team. We are really proud of Sam in his efforts.
Nevaeh in October
Such a beautiful day on October 4th so Nevaeh posed for me in the backyard and we came away with interesting photos. I think I have a beautiful Granddaughter but we knew that already!! :) :)
Wise Family Reunion 2006
On August 8th the first of 30 Wise family members started to arrive with all here by the 10th of August. We kept busy with a trip into Yellowstone National Park on Friday and a river rafting trip on Saturday followed by a nice lunch at the Irma restaurant in Cody and then home for a softball game. In between were times of rest and fellowship and lots of food. It was a great time for all. On Sunday they all left for their homes in Colorado, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa and Arkansas. We welcome our family back anytime to do the things that did not fit into our time together.
Cooper's 2006 Baseball Season
Coop is in his first year of Major League Little League - (11-12 yr olds). The regular season is done and we are now into the All-Star season. I coached his Yankee team during the regular season and am one of 2 coaches for the All-Star season which will end when July ends. Cooper pitched and played shortstop for the season and is doing the same in All-Stars but does fill in at catcher. He has used number #5 for both phases of this season. Most of these pictures are similar as it is hard to be coaching and getting some good action shots.
Kitchen Remodel
In late July and early August we finally did the kitchen remodel we have talked about for a long time. At the same time we exchanged our family room with our dining room to make a much better flow in our downstairs. We replace all the cabinets and countertops along with all the flooring downstairs and up the stairs and throughout the upstairs hallway. The downstairs bathroom was also gutted and replaced with new fixtures. In addition new appliances adorn the new kitchen. Now what next.........................
Big Horn Mts Camping Adventure 6-25
A last minute decision to go camping sent us into the Bighorn Mountains for some good old fashion camping - if you call sleeping in a tent camper old fashion! Even Kirsten and Nevaeh came along. We spent the first night at Sitting Bull Campground which sits at 8600 feet. When the sun goes down so does the temperatures. We packed up and went to a lower elevation to stay at Medicine Lodge State Park which sits at 4800 feet. What a wonderful place to stay. We are going back again soon.
Beartooth Highway 9-26-2004
We took our final trip into the Beartooth Mountains for the season. The roads close in late Sept or early October so off we went with Nevaeh to show her the wonders of the Beartooths. The weather was great and the scenery was awesome as usual.
Nevaeh Turns Two
On March 17 (St Patricks Day) Nevaeh turned two years old. Just a simple dinner - she requested pizza - and some presents and of course - two cakes.
The Jungle Book
On February 13, Cooper tried out and was chosen to act in a Missoula Children's Theatre production of The Jungle Book. MCT performs in all 50 states and around the world choosing children on a Monday and performing 2 shows on Saturday. The kids do amazing things with just 5 days of rehearsals. Cooper played a member a the Wolf Pack and had many lines of script to memorize.
Jennifer - Zachary - Elyssa
Finally got together with Jennifer and her two darling kids to take a few pictures. A beautiful setting in the park on a nice day brought forth some cute pictures of Elyssa and Zach along with some nice captures of their mother, Jennifer. Hope the family will enjoy some of the results.
Mike and Pam come to Wyoming
My brother Mike and sister in law Pam came to see my new neighbor (Mother) and enjoy some scenery in the area. We took a trip out to the Bighorn Canyon National Rec Area and a trip to Red Lodge Montana and the reopening of the Beartooth Highway which was closed due to spring mudslides. Pam painted two rooms for mother and Mike helped around the outside of her home. A great visit from the Omahaians.
Family Photos Oct 2005
Over two days I took photos of the entire family with singular pictures of Nevaeh and Kirsten, Sam and Cooper.
Sam's Football Season 2005
Sam's team had a great year - going 7-0 and taking the title for the 8th grade conference. Sam played mostly in the trenches- center and guard on offense and tackle and linebacker on defense. His number is 53.
Cooper's Football Season 2005
Cooper played for the second year in the Cody Tackle football leauge. He played on one of two Powell teams in the league. He played running back and wide reciever on offense and linebacker on defense. His number while in a blue uniform is 24 and in the orange uniform he played with the numbers #11 and #14
Greg's 52nd Birthday
Ok - so I turned 52. When I am 80, I will wish for the good old days. Since it was Labor day on my birthday on Sept 5th, we were all together. We decided to go up to Red Lodge Montana and visit the town and also to see how far we could get up the Beartooth Highway. The highway never opened this year because of mudslides the took out 12 different sections of road. They will have it fixed in record time by October 1st. These are just some of the pictures that recorded the days travels in Red Lodge and out in the nearby wilderness.
Robin and Penny's Excellent Yellowstone Adventure
Robin Hugdahl and Penny Sandahl came out to visit the Wyoming Wise's and decided they needed to rekindle childhood memories and off we went to see the sights of Yellowstone National Park. After a late start and a stop at the local Super Center (we won't mention the store's name) we made a whirlwind tour through the main loop in the park and caught the highlights. We even saw elk, bison, moose, coyote, deer and a chipmunk - well Penny didn't see the chipmunk. A nice time was had by all.
Victory Fellowship Church on the Northfork
On October 16, 2005 several families from Victory Fellowship gathered down the Northfork Highway towards Yellowstone National Park for pictures. It was a beautiful but windy day. Here are some of the results from that outing.
Cooper's 11th Birthday
On August 4th, Cooper turned 11 years old and had a group of friends over for a party. After presents we headed to Lovell - 24 miles to the east and swam at the high school pool for 3 hours. Back to the house for cake and ice cream to finish off the day.
Carter Mountain Sunday
Today was Father's Day and so I picked to go up to Carter Mountain which is 20 miles out of Cody and then a 10 mile trip up a dirt and bumpy road to some beautiful scenery and a wide variety of wild flowers. We even got Kirsten and Nevaeh to come up with us. Our good friend, Bill Clarey came along with us also. We had a good time of fellowship and and a awesome afternoon of visual delight.
The Wisemen to Arizona 2005
With a long spring break for Sam and Cooper, Greg loaded the boys up and headed to Arizona to visit Grandma Wise and take in 3 spring training baseball games. With some side trips to the desert outside Phoenix - to some Indian ruins outside of Flagstaff and then to Arches National Park outside of Moab, Utah. 2500 miles and lots of hiking and climbing. Even got a bit of a tan. We did miss our 3 Wise women though and it was good to get back after being gone for 9 days.
Ted Wise Funeral April 2005
Our Uncle Ted Wise passed away in Kalispell Montana and we gathered to pay our last respects to the last of the children of Elmer and Hattie Wise to leave this earth and join the family in the next life. Brother Mike drove in from Omaha NE and Kirsten, Nevaeh and I along with Mike drove the 550 miles to Kalispell for the funeral on April 15th. After 30 years apart, we re-met cousin Teresa along with her husband, Jim Hurlbutt. On the day of the funeral, we picked up her mother, Elda Rose in Whitefish and then drove to Columbia Falls for the gravesite service for Ted. The next day Mike, Kirsten, Nevaeh and I drove into Glacier National Park as far as the road would allow and had a glimpse of the spectacular beauty that is only found in Glacier.
Nevaeh Emma Maria Wise
On March 17th, St. Patrick's Day, our Daughter Kirsten presented us with our first grandchild - a beautiful girl named Nevaeh. She arrived at 8 lbs and 7 oz and was 21 inches long. It was a rough night which culmanated in a C-section birth. God has given to all of us a beautiful girl full of promise and love. "Every good and perfect gift is from above........ James 1:17
Kirsten's Baby Shower
On Sunday, February 15, friends family and co-workers gathered to celebrate a soon-to-be new life. Kirsten and her new baby received some very nice gifts and a lot of fun was had by all in attendance. Keep watching this site as the day is near when we will be posting pictures of the new arrival.
Sam's Football Season 2004
Sam played his first season of full contact tackle football in the 7th grade. This was his first opportunity to do so and he was ready. He played both offense and defense and had a great season. He can't wait for next season to come.
Cooper's Football Season 2004
Cooper played full gear tackle football for the first time. He couldn't wait to put the pads on and hit and get hit. Even though he was one of the smallest players in the league, he was a force beyond his size. He played a pivotal role on both defense and offense and play most of the times during his games. He was selected for the all star team after the end of the regular season. His number is 14 while playing in orange and 34 while playing in black.
Backyard with Grandma Wise
On September 25, 2004 while Grandma Wise was visiting us in Wyoming, the kids posed with her in the backyard. It was a interesting photo session and we finished with Nevaeh in the flowers.
Northfork Family Photos 2004
On a beautiful November 7th day we ventured up the Northfork Highway towards Yellowstone and shot some family photos in a couple of our favorite spots.
Cooper's 10th Birthday
On a hot August day, we celebrated Cooper gaining double digits for his age. It started out with family at home opening some gifts and then in the afternoon we took Cooper and his friends to the little town of Cowley Wyoming for a swimming party. Afterwards we came home for treats and more presents.
The Bloms Come To Visit
Our friends, Joop and Willemijn Blom, came back to our home for a five day visit in early September. We really enjoyed our times together and they left to explore more of the USA - their adoptive home. We love them and look forward to their return someday and perhaps our visit to their home in Holland.
Cooper's Baseball Season 2004
Cooper played in his first year of Little League Minor League this year. Greg was his head coach. He lives for this sport and excels all over the field. He was selected for the All Star team and his play now extends through July in post-season play.
Sam's Baseball Season 2004
Sam played in the 11-12 Major Leagues this year and loves to be behind the plate or occasionally in the infield. He is the premier catcher in the league and his bat was hot this year also. He was selected to play in the post season as an All- Star. Greg was an assistant coach on his team this year.
Beartooth Hiway 9-27-2003
We decided to take a final trip up to Red Lodge Montana and then over the Beartooth Highway. The snow will start flying soon - in fact it already has snowed in the last two weeks up there. The road will close within the next two weeks and will not reopen until the end of May or first part of June. The colors were beautiful as was the weather.
Christmas Tree Cutting and Bighorn Sheep
Our yearly trek to the borders of Yellowstone National Park to cut our Christmas tree was a fun day. Not only did we come away with a nice fresh tree to decorate but we also came across an abundance of Bighorn Sheep. They were just coming into the rut and the rams were busy protecting their harems of ewes and chasing away lesser rams. Although the temperatures were warm - around 40 - we still had to wade through about 12 - 20 inches of snow to harvest our tree.
Beartooth Highway Opening
The first weekend that the Beartooth Highway opens is always a good time to travel on it. We head to Red Lodge Montana and then over the Beartooth Mountains and back into Wyoming. There we catch the Chief Joseph Highway which brings us through the Crandall area and back to Powell. We encountered many extreme skiers and snowboarders who are fearless in their runs down the sheer cliffs that abound at 11,000 feet at the height of the road.
Arizona 2004
Greg's annual trip to visit his mom, Patricia, in Sun City Az includes a stop at the Grand Canyon at sunrise. Brother Mike and sister Robin also came to help celebrate their mothers 76th birthday.
Bighorn Canyon Recreation Area 5-26-03
We took a drive out to the Bighorn Canyon and enjoyed the overlook of the canyon. We discovered for the first time out there a natural bridge that we all posed on. Looks dangerous but it was pretty safe. Also saw some wild stallions that were very aggressive toward one another. Ended the day by taking a short drive into the nearby desert that borders the Rec area. A great day with beautiful sights.
Cedar Mountain and Buffalo Bill Dam
June 29th, after church, we drove up the side of Cedar Mountain as far as we could go. The views were mostly of the town of Cody, Wyoming and also towards Heart Mountain. After we came down, we drove out to the Buffalo Bill Dam and Reservoir. The reservoir is as full as it has been in over 5 years. It was really low the last 2 years but is almost at 100 % capacity.
