squeekyandsmokey.jpg Squeeky and Smokey spending a cool, rainy day at the fireside. While on an outing, we saw Squeeky at the side of a road, looking very vulnerable and alone and appearing to be dehydrated. However we left him there while we continued on our way, hoping his mother would return. When we came back that way later in the day, the mother was no where to be seen, and the poor little fawn was still laying there, badly dehydrated and near death, so we revived him with water, brought him home and raised him on the bottle with goat's milk. After receiving permission from the conservation people, we raised him until he came into rut, when it became too dangerous to have him around children and the other animals. At that point he went to a farm to be with his own kind.
