05-37 - This is the view of the harbor (and our ship) from the Halifax Citadel, our last stop on the tour, before heading back to the pier to visit the shops and return to the Explorer of the Seas. The Citadel is on a hill that served as the site of four different forts. Each was built during a time of perceived threat. The final fort to be built took 28 years to complete and was finished in 1856. It was intended to deter an overland assault on the city and dockyard. Today, it is a National Historic Site of Canada.
